Why varnish leather?

Many people are unaware of it, but originally, ALL leathers are varnished. Once applied, the Varnish firstly deposits a protective, colourless film on the surface of the leather. It thus protects the grain of the leather and its colouring from rubbing and external damage. Secondly, the varnish gives the leather a more or less glossy appearance, or even a matt one, which can be chosen according to your expectations.
