How do you change the colour of your leather?

To change the colour of your armchair or your leather car seat, there is no need to call on a professional renovator. This colour change is not very complicated: you simply need to use the right products and follow the steps and instructions detailed in the instructions for use to the letter.

1 - Moisturise the leather

If the leather is very dry: moisturise the leather well with nourishing oil (follow the instructions for use). Wait at least 15 days before recolouring. This step is essential and allows you to extend the life of your colour change by several years.
If your leather is still supple, you can rehydrate it 30 days after your renovation.

2 - Clean and degrease the leather

Start by sanding the leather (using only the weight of your hand) with our leather abrasive.
Remove any traces of sebum with our sebum cleaner (mainly on sofas, at neck level and on the armrests).
Clean and degrease your leather to properly "open the fibres": simply use acetone (harmless to leather).

4 - Repair the leather (if necessary)

Fill splits and cracks or cat scratches with our leather repair products.

3 - Dye the leather

Carry out your colour change by applying our pigment leather dye. This colourant is applied in the same way as a paint: with a foam roller, a brush or a spray gun. Depending on the covering power of the desired colour, several coats may be necessary.
When changing from a dark colour to a light one, we recommend applying a first coat of overdosed white.
