Before setting about repairing a tear in the leather of your sofa, it is essential to identify the type of damage the leather of your sofa, armchair or car seat has suffered. 

Different types of tears in leather

There are 5 types of damage on a leather sofa:

Very often, dents or creases can be seen on a leather sofa. By dents, we mean a deformation caused by poor storage or objects badly placed on the leather. As for creases and grooves on the seat, this simply means the formation of folds and scratches due to wear over time. Daily sitting and the abnormal pressure of objects caused by poor storage are therefore a cause of tears in a leather sofa. 

Very small clean cuts are another incident that can happen to your leather sofa. They can be caused by keys, a cutter blade or a knife.

Small clean cuts should not be confused with larger ones. Indeed, the repair solution is not the same because of the size of the cut. 

Small and large tears are, as the name suggests, a part of your sofa that has been cut open, but less cleanly than a simple cut.

Products for repairing tears in leather

- Deformed leather: Simple indentations and marks in the leather are repaired using a repair paste. Because of its white colour, this paste will need to be recoloured to match the colour of the sofa.
