What are Mercedes-Benz leather colour codes?

At Mercedes-Benz, the original colour and material of the upholstery are identified by a three-digit upholstery code, sometimes followed by a letter (for example 205 or 205A). It is shown on the vehicle data sheet (data card or option label) and in the decoded vehicle identification number (VIN). Knowing it is the best way to find the right shade before renovating a seat, a steering wheel or a door panel.

The table below gathers 198 Mercedes upholstery codes, from the R107 and R129 SL to recent A-Class, E-Class and GLB models. How to read a Mercedes upholstery code

On older models, the first digit indicates the material: 1xx for MB-Tex leatherette, 2xx for leather, 5xx for "exclusive" leather. The last digit often follows the colour: 1 for black, 2 for blue, 5 for mushroom, 8 for grey. Note that Mercedes reused the same codes for other colours depending on the period and model: 205 is mushroom on a 1990s SL but a beige on a 2009 E-Class. So always check the model and year.

Can the same code correspond to several colours?

Yes: Mercedes reused some codes for other colours over the years. The code must therefore always be read together with the vehicle's model and year. Then compare the suggested shade with a protected part of the upholstery (under a seat cushion, in a fold) before renovating everything.

My code has no matching shade in the table: what should I do?
