At Mercedes-Benz, the original colour and material of the upholstery are identified by a three-digit upholstery code, sometimes followed by a letter (for example 205 or 205A), shown on the vehicle data sheet and in the decoded vehicle identification number (VIN). On older models, the first digit gives the material: 1xx for MB-Tex leatherette, 2xx for leather, 5xx for "exclusive" leather.

Note: the same code has sometimes referred to different colours over the years. Always read it together with the vehicle's model and year.
