This kit is designed to permanently repair tears, cuts and holes that go right through leather or faux leather: sofas, car seats, upholstery, handbags, jackets…
Available in two sizes, for tears up to 15 cm or 30 cm long.
How does it work?
A tear cannot simply be filled: without reinforcement, the leather stretches and the repair eventually gives way. The principle is therefore to back the tear with a flexible support, then fill the surface.
- Prepare: clean and degrease the area with the leather stain remover.
- Insert the non-woven fabric behind the tear, between the foam and the leather, leaving at least 2 cm overlap on each side. It can be laid either way round.
- Glue the non-woven fabric with the RépaCuir repair paste using the spatula, then press the leather onto it and smooth it well. Drying time: 6 to 12 h at 20 °C.
- Fill the slit with RépaCuir in thin coats, then sand off the excess with the 240-grit abrasive sponge.
- Paint the repaired area.

A non-woven fabric designed for backing
Very thin, flexible and strong, the non-woven fabric supplied bonds perfectly with RépaCuir. Thanks to its woven structure, it reinforces the bond without adding thickness, even on leather under heavy strain. Failing that, the thinnest possible piece of leather will also do.
For a successful repair
- Painting is essential: for a discreet repair, paint the repaired area, or the whole item, with our leather paint.
- Grained leather: once filled, the line of the tear stays smooth and can catch the light. To soften it, spray our texturing spray for leather and faux leather in thin coats: it leaves a slight grainy relief that breaks up this smooth look, before painting. For a result as close as possible to the original grain, take an impression with ReproGrain paste, then reproduce it with RésiGrain resin or with RépaCuir.
- Perforated leather: if RépaCuir fills perforations around the tear, reopen them once dry with a drill fitted with a suitable bit, matching the diameter of the existing holes.
- Very dry, stiff or brittle leather: rehydrate it first with our “Pied de bœuf” nourishing oil, about 30 days before the repair.

Limitations: not suitable for suede-type leathers (nubuck, suede).
