Mustache club with scratches and various shades
Hello,
I would like to renovate this club mustache chair. The seat is still in good condition so it would be a question of renovating the leather. The photos show the condition after cleaning (with glycerine soap) and a layer of oxfoot oil (except for the backrest where the leather is not too dry). I will recover the leather from the back of the chair (not visible) that was cut out and cover with the front of the armrests and the underside of the seat in poor condition. The back of the chair will be covered with a jute bag la Pos...
I would like your opinion on the different operations I was planning to carry out:
Repair :
- armrests: the leather is in poor condition with cat scratches, the leather is dry and cracked, the grain of the leather is missing in several places = I would rather go to change the leather. The chair being quite small I should be able to change the 2 armrests with only 1 skin.
- back: it is damaged at the top of the chair and 1 cut has been repaired but roughly = I think I apply repair paste to mask these defects. There are also some cat claws under the armrests to be filled. How much product do you recommend?
Shade and protection:
It is now quite disparate and darker on the seat. I would like to be able to get closer to a fawn tint while keeping the patina on the backrest. What product would you recommend to me to have a hue of this nature, patinated and harmonious between the new and old leather parts?
Thinking quite naively that the application of a tinted wax could mask the defects, I already have a light brown tinted wax (see photo). If however I can manage to use it to achieve my result, so much the better if not so much the worse...
Thank you for your advice.
