Faithfully reproduce the original grain of your repaired leather.

RésiGrain SOFOLK is a two-component water-based resin with a creamy texture, specially formulated to recreate the leather grain after repair. It must be used together with a grain imprint previously made using ReproGrain Grain Reproduction Paste by SOFOLK.

RésiGrain is mass-tinted, remains soft and elastic, and is compatible with all Sofolk finishing products.

Kit contents

1 jar (100 ml) of tinted RésiGrain resin
1 bottle (20 ml) of Sofolk multi-purpose catalyst to be poured entirely before use

The mixture must be used within 90 minutes after adding the catalyst/hardener.

Instructions for use

Preparation: clean and degrease the area with SOFOLK Cleaner / Stain Remover. Surface must be dry and grease-free.
Imprint: make the grain imprint beforehand using SOFOLK ReproGrain and allow it to fully cure.
Mixing: pour the entire 20 ml catalyst into the 100 ml RésiGrain jar and mix thoroughly. Usable life = 3 hours.
Application: apply a regular layer matching the thickness of the grain to be reproduced. Prefer a slightly excessive application. Ideally allow partial air drying for a few minutes.
Grain reproduction: center and position the silicone matrix (grain side) on the resin. Apply even pressure for optimal molding.
Gently heat at 60–70 °C for several minutes if necessary to speed up curing.
Removal: gently remove the matrix after at least 3 hours at 20 °C before finishing. The resin must not stick to the matrix.
Finishing: if necessary, apply the final paint in the correct shade, then protect with Sofolk Vernis Protecteur Incolore.

TIP: recreating the grain requires a bit of practice to achieve an invisible repair. Work carefully and respect drying times.

Precautions for use

Use within 3 hours after adding the catalyst
Do not apply to damp or greasy surfaces
Ideal application temperature: 10 to 35 °C
Do not dilute, do not heat with direct flame
In case of excess application, use acetone or sand with abrasive paper

To achieve an optimal renovation, please carefully read the instructions for use of each product, and respect the order of application as well as the drying times.

For light colors or porous materials the quantity provided in the kit may be insufficient. Be sure to not finish part of your renovation without making sure you have enough products.

However, as a precaution, for pigment recolourants made from a sample of material, we keep the details of your color for one month.
