THE SOFOLK METHOD IS VERY SIMPLE AND VERY QUICK
What sets us apart from other leather renovation techniques?
For leather care and renovation, the SOFOLK method was developed in 1990. It is directly inspired by the way leather is worked in tanneries, as we use the same raw materials (oil, pigments, varnish).
At Sofolk, leather degreasing is simply done with acetone. There is no need to buy a specific degreaser/stripper that will cost you 3 to 4 times more, and that could even damage the surface to be renovated if you do not use it correctly.
Unlike some others, our leather paint does not always require an adhesion primer or a colour fixer, whatever the leather*, and that is no small thing!
What is more, it is very easy to apply: with a foam roller, a brush, a sponge or a spray gun (0.8 or 1 mm nozzle). We can even supply it as an aerosol!
*Except for velvety finishes (suede and nubuck)
Finally, as water-based paints dry, they stick the leather fibres together. For this reason, and for more than 30 years, we have systematically included "Pied de Boeuf" nourishing oil in our kits. This oil rehydrates and lubricates the leather's fibre mat, allowing the fibres to slide over one another without catching, preventing cracks from forming. Your leather will thank you, and its lifespan will be greatly extended!
