Adhesion primer for grained or textured plastics

The SOFOLK adhesion primer prepares non-smooth, grained or textured plastics to receive the SOFOLK plastic paint. One-component and ready to use in an aerosol, it strengthens paint adhesion on most plastics found in cars, motorbikes, boats and furniture: ABS, EP laminate, PA, PBTP, PC, POM, PP/EPDM, PPO, hard and soft PUR, PVC.

On these surfaces, the plastic paint already adheres well: the primer is not compulsory, but it is recommended for optimum durability, especially on heavily used parts such as door trims, the centre console or the dashboard.

It is also a universal primer: it works on metal, for example under the plastic paint on hubcaps, trim strips or metal trim parts.

Smooth or glossy plastic? Choose the other primer

A very smooth, shiny or glossy plastic, such as untreated polypropylene, needs the adhesion primer for smooth plastics: on this type of surface, it is essential. So look at the part before choosing: a grained or textured surface calls for this primer, a smooth and shiny surface for the primer for smooth plastics.

In all cases, plastics are so varied that a compatibility test on a hidden area remains essential.

Instructions for use

1. Sand: always lightly key the surface with a fine abrasive to create grip.
2. Degrease carefully, ideally with isopropyl alcohol, or with acetone or the SOFOLK stripper and degreaser. The surface must be clean and dry.
3. Mask the areas that must not receive any product.
4. Shake the aerosol, then apply a single thin, even coat over the whole surface to be painted: it is enough.
5. Paint once the primer is dry, with the plastic paint in several thin coats.

Coverage and size

A 400 ml aerosol covers 1.5 to 2 m². The primer can also be supplied in a 1-litre bottle: please contact us.

Aerosol product: read the label before use, work in a well-ventilated room and away from any flame.
