Hello,

The front seat has a lengthwise crack in the leatherette on the side of the seat base.

I am leaning towards a repair, mainly to limit the "spread", although I am also looking for a good visual effect.

I found 2 similar requests on your forum.

For one you recommend the repair, for the other you advise leaving it as it is...

I do not know what to think.

Hello,

I am afraid it is not possible to stop it from spreading. Once leatherette starts to deteriorate in this way, there is nothing that can be done to stop it. It is, however, possible to improve its appearance temporarily.

So you could, if you wish, use the Répaskaï paste to fill the crack. Beforehand, do not forget to lightly sand the leatherette and degrease it with our cleaner. After applying the filler, you will need to recolour with our leatherette paint to hide the repair. Finally, apply a varnish to protect your work.

We stress that worn leatherette is difficult to repair and that this work is likely to deteriorate quickly. However, for your information, accidentally damaged leatherette (cut, snag, etc.) can be repaired perfectly well.
