Cleaning and maintenance of white leather upholstery

5 answers

Hello,

I'm cleaning up a white leather living room.

I'm in the cleaning stage. A thin film comes off in places, you advised me by email to use Acetone diluted at 50% to facilitate the stain.

Once fully cleaned, the leather will be white but matt and I think unprotected.

What do you recommend? First apply a varnish, then an oil?

Then for routine maintenance, a cleaner?

Hello,

Did you buy your new or used sofa?

Otherwise, you must continue your cleaning to remove all the film.
Grease the leather with edible oil (because acetone dries out).

Then you will have 2 solutions:

1- either you varnish directly2-a
or apply a coat of white pigment recolourant varnish2-b
or apply a solvent-sprayed pigment recolourant coat, which already contains a satin varnish

If we were you, we would choose the last solution that will restore a beautiful shine.

Thank you for your answer.

I bought this new salon 10 years ago.

As soon as I got it, we noticed indelible traces apparently because of the jeans pants that faded (the seller then informed us that we shouldn't sit in jeans on a white sofa!!!).

The salesman took over the salon and redid it, I don't know exactly what was done, but he made it look white to us. But then the same problem happened again.

As soon as I wanted to clean it, this thin film would come off in places, I didn't dare rub it too hard because I thought it would damage the leather.

What is this film, is it varnish?

I have ordered the products for the solution you are recommending, as well as a cleaning product.

Once the oil has been applied, how long should I wait before spraying?

What are the products to use next for routine maintenance? a cleaning product only? the spray 2 or 3 times a year?

Thank you in advance.

We do think that this thin layer is varnish.

The re-colouring should be done 30 days after lubrication.
You can also perfectly re-colour first and grease 30 days later!

The routine maintenance of a clean leather sofa is VERNISED CLEANING OIL.
If the leather is dirty it is CLEANING / DEGREASING VARNISHED FOOD OIL

Thank you for all this advice.

I have ordered and received the products you offer.

I perfectly cleaned the chair and sofa with cleaner and acetone.

I have applied 2 coats of your solvent-sprayed pigment re-colourant (which contains varnish).

I wait 30 days to pass the nourishing oil.

It's perfect, it's almost as good as new!
