Your approach to bringing a leather jacket back to life is correct, but here are a few details to help you better understand the process:
Sanding with 240 grit: Sanding is an essential step in preparing the surface of the leather. 240 grit is fairly coarse, which allows the leather to be smoothed by removing roughness and imperfections and creating an even surface. Make sure you clean the surface thoroughly after sanding.
Pigment leather paint: Use a pigment leather paint in the brown colour you wish to apply to the jacket. The pigment leather paint will help restore the colour of the leather evenly. Apply it carefully, following the product instructions.
Protective wax: After applying the leather paint, we recommend using a protective wax to seal the colour and protect the leather from the weather and UV. The wax will form a protective layer on the surface of the leather.
Neatsfoot nourishing oil: The leather oil nourishes and moisturises the leather, keeping it supple and healthy. (to be applied 15 days after the wax
In addition, to be even more effective against the weather, we recommend applying a SOFOLK waterproofing treatment.
Please note that, as part of the SOFOLK leather care protocol, this product must absolutely be applied last.
