A refurbishment is still a possibility, but we prefer to be transparent: given the extent of the visible damage, we cannot guarantee a result that is entirely satisfactory or long-lasting.

The best solution would still be to contact an upholsterer to replace the most damaged leather parts, particularly around the edge of the driver’s seat, as the tears are very close to the seams.

In fact, a repair would normally involve:

sliding a non-woven fabric under the tear to create a stable base;

gluing it in place;

possibly reattaching a piece of leather to replace the missing material;

then filling the seams with repair paste;

and finally, recolouring and applying a varnish.

The problem with the entry flap is that, given its immediate proximity to the seam, the non-woven fabric may not be able to be properly slipped under the torn area. This can therefore significantly limit the repair’s durability over time.

If, however, you wish to attempt the restoration yourself, this is still possible. In this case, we would advise you to use our leather car seat restoration kit.

You will also need:

a piece of non-woven fabric;

as well as a piece of repair leather.

The rest of your old kit can, of course, probably be reused for certain steps, particularly on the steering wheel.
