There is no entirely satisfactory solution for restoring this type of damage.
The best option is to recolour directly onto the fabric backing to reduce the damage, but there is no way to put the coating back on the damaged areas.
Applying a varnish after the full recolouring will slow down the deterioration, but unfortunately it will not stop it.
